BriefHistory.us ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect when you visit the site, how it's used, and what choices you have. The short version: we collect very little, we don't sell anything, and we try to be careful with what we do collect.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

If you write to us through the contact form, we receive whatever you type in — typically your name, email address, and the body of your message. We use that information solely to read and reply to your message.

Information collected automatically

Like virtually all websites, our web server logs basic technical information about each request: IP address, the page requested, the date and time, your browser's user-agent string, and the referring page (if any). These logs are kept for a short period and used for troubleshooting, security, and aggregate traffic analysis.

Cookies

BriefHistory.us does not currently set tracking cookies of its own. If we add analytics in the future (for example, Google Analytics or a privacy-friendly alternative), this page will be updated and the analytics provider may set cookies subject to its own policy.

Third-party services

Some pages load fonts and stylesheets from third-party content delivery networks (Google Fonts, jsDelivr). Your browser may make a direct request to those services in order to load those resources; we do not control what they log. We do not embed third-party trackers, social media pixels, or advertising scripts.

Contact-form messages are kept for as long as needed to handle the conversation and any follow-up. Server logs are kept for a short rolling window (typically 30–90 days) and then discarded or aggregated.

5. Children's privacy

BriefHistory.us is a general-audience reference site and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

6. Your choices

• You can browse the site without giving us any personal information.
• You can configure your browser to refuse cookies; the site will continue to work.
• If you have written to us and want your message and email address deleted from our records, write to us and ask.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited personal information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be noted prominently.
